Westwood Primary School and Grove Primary School, both part of The Active Learning Trust, are proud to announce that they have each been awarded the highest level of recognition by Incyte International, the coveted Platinum Plus Safeguarding Award.

This award is only given to organisations that can demonstrate exceptional performance across a broad range of evaluation areas and showcase innovative practices that significantly enhance the well-being of those under their care.

Both schools, located in Lowestoft, were able to display exemplary practices in several key areas when assessed, which included the application and quality of safeguarding policies, proactive leadership, the effectiveness of the schools’ links with multi-agencies, and the impact of staff training.

The reports acknowledged that both schools have established a culture that prioritises the safety and well-being of students, notably the schools’ creative and effective strategies in supporting learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and their proactive culture led by school leaders to keep young people safe. In addition, both schools were commended for their efforts to engage with families and understand their community needs thoroughly.

The collaboration between the schools was highlighted as an additional factor that has enhanced their safeguarding capabilities. The partnership has fostered a robust culture of care and mutual support, allowing both schools to share expertise, as well as enhancing their overall safeguarding frameworks.

Commenting on the achievements Lynsey Holzer, Chief Executive Officer of The Active Learning Trust, said: “In receiving the Platinum Plus award, both Westwood and Grove Primary Schools have set a remarkable standard for safeguarding excellence across the Trust.” She continued: “Their innovative approaches and the palpable impact of their policies on the ground exemplify what it means to not only meet but exceed expectations in creating a safe and nurturing environment for every learner."

This recognition from Incyte International serves as a testament to the hard work and dedication of the staff, leadership, and the entire school communities at Westwood and Grove Primary Schools.

The schools are honoured to receive the Platinum Plus Safeguarding Award and remain committed to providing the highest standards of care and protection, ensuring that all students are safe, supported, and empowered to succeed.
