Peps McCrea is the Dean of Learning Design at Ambition Institute. This video is one of many produced by ResearchEd which, although directed towards Maths and Science, is appropriate for all subjects at all ages.
It is a short video that makes explicit links between metacognition research and nuts and bolts classroom practice.
Working memory is essentially our power to think – as teachers we need to manage thinking – do we plan exactly what we want the children to think at each stage of a lesson – how do they think – what is the gatekeeper to thinking – attention.
An easy watch with many probing questions about developing the attention of our children and reducing the impact of distraction.
