Jake Longhurst

Jake currently holds the post of Head of History and his specialism is in curriculum design and increasing student engagement through improved teaching and learning. Over the past 4 years he has been part of a Middle Leadership team that has moved his school from Inadequate to Good. Jake has developed within the Trust, first joining as a SCITT trainee in 2013. He completed the LAL programme and successfully applied for a Head of Year role within three years of achieving QTS. Having gained valuable
experience in a pastoral role, he moved into subject leadership in 2017. Working with his team, Jake moved to a mastery curriculum, embedding GCSE skills and knowledge into Lower School schemes of work. The Teaching and Learning in the History department was recognised in the most recent Ofsted inspection (November 2018) as a strength in the school. He has completed CPD in coaching and mentoring and his drive now is to support others to realise their potential and develop themselves and their departments in order to benefit the learners at their school.
