Summary

Helen Phillips is a teacher with over 20 years’ experience teaching in primary schools in Suffolk and Norfolk. During her career she has worked as a Lead Maths Teacher, been part of a working party analysing Year 2 Maths SATs for several years at QCA as well as completing the ALT LPA course. In her role as Culture and Community Lead at Pakefield Primary School, she has worked tirelessly to ensure that the children there are active members of their local community and that they also identify themselves as global citizens. This underpins the curriculum and the ethos of the school. Pakefield Primary School now benefits from a plethora of sustained cultural enrichment. This includes regular visits to local Residential homes for the whole of Year 2, a sustained exchange with a school in France, recent twinning with a local nature reserve as well as many dance/ music projects which have been rolled out to different year groups across the school. These are just a small example of the opportunities which have been available to the pupils. Having a key person who facilitates projects has led to Pakefield Primary School being recognised in Lowestoft as a school which leads the way in promoting diverse learning experiences for their
children.
