Summary

Emma is a highly experienced primary practitioner, having taught throughout Early Years, KS1 and KS2, during her 15 year career. This term, she has been thrilled to take on the role of LKS2 Phase Leader, supporting colleagues in her team, in both their teaching and subject leader roles. She has led Science at Sidegate since 2013, raising the profile of the subject and supporting colleagues in improving teaching and learning. As part of this role, Emma organises an inspiring annual STEM week, engaging with a large range of individuals and businesses, in order to raise pupils' aspirations and awareness of opportunities available to them. She successfully led the school through the PSQM process, achieving the Award in 2018. This year, she is further developing the science curriculum, including ensuring progress of working scientifically skills across the school, developing child led learning and exploring strategies to support children's long term memory. Emma attends termly Science Network meetings and has strong links with specialists within the county. She has completed the LAL programme, with a focus on making links between science in school and real life. She is currently working towards completion of the Lead Practitioner programme.
