Johnny Lee is the PE coordinator at Red Oak Primary School and he is a qualified primary teacher and lead practitioner who specialises in primary PE and sports. Johnny set up the North Suffolk ALT sports leagues in 2014 and he currently organises 40 annual tournaments a year for children in this area. He also created a successful and strong ALT partnership with the charity Panathlon Games to help deliver sports for children with SEN in the Trust. Johnny is an advocator for active schools and in 2018, his class were the first in the UK to become a pedalling classroom with students having desk pedals inserted under their desks in their sedentary lessons; this allowed them to pedal whilst doing their written work whenever they wished and received worldwide media attention. Johnny has appeared on many media outlets such as the BBC and ITV. Red Oak won a total of 100 first placed sports championships in Johnny's first 5 years as PE coordinator at the school and 100% of the KS1 and KS2 students at the school attend extra-curricular sports clubs, with 76% of the school's students representing the school's sports teams in competitions. Johnny has led PE CPD at the ALT schools in Suffolk and Cambridgeshire and he has also presented lectures and seminars at the Suffolk Sports and PE Conferences and also at the International Festival of Learning. Recently, Johnny has created an ALT partnership with Ipswich Town Football Club who will now sponsor the 15 ALT football tournaments that Johnny currently organises per school year. Johnny was invited to the House of Commons and awarded a Pearson's National Teaching Award in 2017 and he also helped his school to win the Suffolk Sports Award for Primary Sports and PE Premium School of the year in 2019. Johnny is more than happy to share his PE good practice across the ALT hub.
