Richard Martin

Richard is the Deputy Head at Chesterton, where he is also Maths lead; he moved into teaching in 2013 following a career in publishing in Norfolk and Suffolk. Richard completed the LAL Advanced programme in 2018/19, focusing on the structure, delivery and outcomes of Maths lessons and the provision of opportunities for application. The subject played a key role in Chesterton’s Good Ofsted rating in January 2020, where Richard was able to discuss the strengths, development points and vision for Maths at the school. He has since been afforded the opportunity to teach groups of Year 6 children in other Trust schools as they work towards SATs.

Richard is a Steps tutor and leads on behaviour in school, supporting staff with his commitment to providing a safe and positive environment for the whole school community through an analytical and reflective approach. Richard works with tireless enthusiasm to galvanise the committed and tight-knit community at Chesterton; he supports this by leading parent council meetings and assisting the PTA with their highlyvalued input into life at Chesterton.
