- Summary
Deborah is an experienced secondary school teacher. Her interests currently are to improve the transition from KS2 to KS3 by linking the curriculum and considering ways in which to smooth the general experience of this transition. The intention of this is toprevent students losing ground, coasting or becoming involved in low level behaviour choices in year 7. Joining the curriculum between the key stages has been partially led by a previous interest in which she contributed a chapter about cross-curricular activities in ‘Learning to Teach Design Technology in Secondary Schools’ (Routledge, 2020).
Other interests have been teaching 3D CAD in secondary schools, which was the subject of her PhD – CAD and Creativity at KS3: towards a new pedagogy (2012). She has also contributed chapters on the subject in ‘Contemporary Research in Technology Education’ (Springer, 2016) and most recently ‘Contemporary issues in Technology Education’ (Springer 2020). Further contributions have been made to both DATA and PATT conference proceedings.
