Beth Jones

Beth is a highly experienced KS1 practitioner; she is currently a member of the school’s middle leadership team with specific responsibility for KS1, Phonics and Science across Grove and Westwood Primary. Beth has successfully completed the NPQML middle leader course and also has a diploma in SEND.  Before joining ALT, Beth was a leading practitioner in Y1 and phonics across Surrey, where she ran regular CPD courses and shared ‘good practice’. Beth has recently worked to create a tailored phonics plan for Grove and Westwood fitting the needs of pupils across both schools. Beth successfully worked to gain the Primary School Quality Mark for her previous place of work and is currently beginning this process in her current setting where, most recently, she has also worked to redesign the science curriculum and help to deliver CPD for staff. Prior to working with ALT, Beth worked alongside other members of SLT to design the KS1 curriculum to suit the needs of the pupils after the change in National Curriculum over the last few years. She has a vast amount of experience as a mentor for trainee students, particularly supporting those around phonics. Most recently, supporting a team of students with developing their knowledge of phonics within Suffolk.
