Last year, Katie Gooch, (RE HLTA at Sidegate) secured £2000 of funding from the Elizabeth Waters’ Charity. With support from the Diocese and from experts in other faith communities, she used this money to create a range of multi-faith reflective stories. Katie embraced the use of reflective stories for the teaching of RE at Sidegate and undertook this project as all of the stories currently in use are of Christian origin and she wanted to be able to teach other faiths through this route. A very successful launch event was held at Sidegate Primary on 23rd November for colleagues from other schools, faith groups and organisations. Katie’s reading of the Buddhist story ‘The Prince in the Palace’ was captivating. The next steps for 2016 are to roll out a training programme for Suffolk teachers.
