TEACHER OF SOCIAL SCIENCES
Required from September 2020
Cromwell Community College, a member of the Active Learning Trust, is a good school which aspires to be outstanding. We look to our Social Sciences Faculty to be a driving force towards this aspiration.
Criminology and law have both being recently introduced as new subjects at KS5 alongside the existing psychology and sociology A levels. Psychology is also taught at GCSE and is one of the most popular and successful option subjects. Due to the popularity of these subjects, we are looking to appoint an inspirational teacher to join our successful and supportive social Science team which consistently deliver some of the best results at GCSE and A level. This has contributed in Cromwell Community College becoming one of the highest performing state sixth forms in Cambridgeshire.
We are a popular, oversubscribed and successful school. We are currently undergoing a large expansion of the secondary phase by 1FE, but we will also become the first all-through (3-18) school in Cambridgeshire in September 2020. It is imperative that we ensure our pupils access a curriculum which is relevant and ambitious throughout their journey at Cromwell.
Due to the popularity of the Criminology Diploma and Law A level, the ideal candidate will have experience in delivering these subjects to a very high level alongside the Head of Department, or show the willingness and drive to develop their own practice in these areas. The successful candidate may also be required to teach humanities subjects at KS3 in addition to a largely A level timetable, but you will be fully supported in this.
If you are enthusiastic, ambitious and passionate about social sciences and recognise its importance for the development of all pupils, and will strive to provide excellent results in our already successful department, we would like to hear from you.
Cromwell Community College offers the chance to join a strong and experienced team and for you to develop your skills and enhance your career development through a wealth of CPD opportunities which is a particular strength of the Trust.
Salary: Main Scale/UPS
Closing Date: 20 April 2020, 12.00pm
The Academy and the Trust are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people. We expect all staff to actively share this commitment. Applicants are thanked for their interest in Cromwell Community College. Please note that only candidates shortlisted for interview will be contacted. We are unable to accept CVs.
