Pupils and staff from Albert Pye Primary and Ravensmere Infant schools in Beccles have completed an impressive fitness challenge, in aid of National Fitness Day.
Eager individuals from the two schools, which are part The Active Learning Trust, walked the equivalent distance of Lands End to John O'Groats, a staggering 603 miles!
Each child walked as far as they could, each achieving a minimum of ten laps of the school’s new Woodland Walk, a purpose-built Astro-path which is available for pupils to use in all weathers.
Play Leaders led the warm-up activity after a ceremonial ribbon cutting by Councillor Plummer, who was instrumental in supporting the funding-raising of the new Woodland Walk.
Much loved teacher, Miss Lane, who recently celebrated 30 years of teaching at the schools, was also at the start-line, cheering on the walkers as they began their epic challenge.
Ms Louise Creed, Interim Head of Schools for Albert Pye and Ravensmere Primaries said: “We had a wonderful day and the children were so supportive of one another, cheering and passing round encouraging words to keep each other motivated!
“I want to say a huge ‘Thank you’ to Councillor Plummer for taking the time to come along and supporting us to fund this amazing project. Thanks also to Miss Lane for dedicating the last 30 years to not only our two schools, but the Beccles community.”

With a clear commitment to physical and mental wellbeing, these two school communities are suitably proud of their achievement.
