Daniel Haddock, Deputy Head Boy at Chantry Academy in Ipswich, has been announced as the overall winner of the Suffolk Hope Awards for 2022/23.

Chosen by a panel of judges from Suffolk Police and Suffolk County Council, Daniel was praised "for his involvement in all aspects of school life, supporting both students and staff. He is also a leader in St John Ambulance and is supporting the delivery of CPT and basic first aid training for students at his school. In addition, Daniel supports the emotional wellbeing of students by creating resources for them around mental health and wellbeing while working as part of a group tackling racism in the school." 

Craig D'Cunha, Executive Headteacher at Chantry Academy said: “Everyone at Chantry Academy is delighted to see Daniel’s outstanding contribution to our school community has been recognised with this award. His enthusiasm for supporting others in areas such as mental health, wellbeing and anti-racism has made a huge difference to his fellow students. He is a wonderful role model for young people across Suffolk and beyond.”

The Suffolk Hope Awards, which are part of the annual Hate Crime Awareness campaign, value and promote diversity, acts of respect and kindness.
