Overview of the job


Reporting to the Director of Finance & Operations, the successful candidate will be a key member of the Trusts small central Team.  

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of working within accountability systems and functions and ideally within an education setting. Accuracy and a strong eye for detail will be your hallmark features. You will work closely with the Director in providing support and challenge to schools to ensure that they reach good standards of systems compliance in the following areas:

  • Human Resources and Safeguarding
  • Health & Safety
  • Data Protection
  • Financial processes
  • Premises & Procurement
  • Other aspects of compliance including website content & census data

You will regularly visit schools to test their compliance against a clearly defined set of standards and produce reports from which assurance and suggestions for improvement can be made to the schools and the Trust.

This post will be the designated Data Protection Officer for the Trust and will act as the lead on supporting schools to ensure compliance as well as responsibility for responding to Freedom of Information and Data Access Requests. A short and certified training course will be provided to ensure you are fully trained and accredited to take on this role.

The candidate

Based at our offices in Ely and you will be expected to work flexibly across the locations of the Trusts Schools (in Cambridgeshire & Suffolk). This will require a self-discipline and highly organised individual who can plan the effective use of their time in an environment with tight deadlines.

Ideally, you will have a strong compliance related background and/or have experience of working in public administration at a senior level. You will have strong inter-personal skills and be able to work closely with school-based staff from a range of disciplines as well as the ability to prepare clear and succinct reports.

This is a vital and exciting new role at a time of continued development for the Trust and one in which you will be able to play a key part in the support to schools and the children in our Academies. Regular visits to schools will require you to be able to drive and provide your own transport.

The post is full time (with a generous annual leave entitlement) though some flexibility may be possible on the number of weeks worked during the year for the ideal candidate.
